IN JAPAN
In May 1991 Celine Dion made a quick trip to Japan where the promotion schedule was just as busy (promotion of her new English album "Unison", oficially released on April 2, 1990). Celine was accompanied by her manager Rene Angelil. In five days, from May 6, 1991 to May 11, 1991 along with Rene, Dave Platel and two journalists from the Montreal magazine "Sept Jours", she visited four cities: Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka. More than in the USA, and far more than in the United Kingdom, where reaction was cool, the Japanese warmed immediately to "Unison". The record promoters set up a tight promotion schedule. They´d even visited her home in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada to photograph Celine´s birthplace. To exhibit her songs, they prepared a video montage of pictures representing Canada, its wheat fields, its snowy summits, its pristine forests, its caribou herds, its wild rivers. In Tokio, Celine walks on streets (including the famous Ginza street), she meets some fans and even she rides a bike with a city employee. During the days in Tokio, Celine stayed at the Roppongi Prince Hotel. Celine also took the famous train, Shinkansen (bullet trains) to Fukuoka, situated on the northern shore of the island of Kyushu. She was photographed on the train with Rene. In Fukuoka, she was at the Vieben Restaurant. Celine also was in Osaka, where she met with the famous TV hoster, Sheena Daswani. During this trip through Japan, Celine received a traditional Japanese kimono (that she wore) from some fans. She also met with singer, Mana Hasejawa and she was photographed with the journalist, Pierre Plante from the magazine "7 Jours".
