IN LOS ANGELES
On September 14, 1990 Celine Dion was in Hollywood in Los Angeles, USA where she met with the famous Quebec TV hoster, Sonia Benezra at Tower Records, the world´s most famous record store. Celine was interviewed by Sonia for a segment aired later on her TV show in Quebec, Canada. They got into the discos shop and then, they met with Celine´s manager, Rene Angelil who was also interviewed. Celine also was photographed with the huge advertising on the sidewalk from the new album titled "Unison". In the window of the store, there were three huge displays: albums by George Michael, New Kids on the Block and Celine Dion. Over it was a banner with the words: "Remember The Name, Because You Will Never Forget The Voice".

ON BACKSTAGE
On September 21, 1990 Celine Dion attended to the NBC Studios in USA, to made her first American television appearance at the famous late-night talk show "The Tonight Show", hosted by Jay Leno and broadcasted on NBC channel in USA. Before the show, Celine and her manager, Rene Angelil were photographed at the dressing room. Celine and Rene also met with Phill Collins and they were photographed together. Celine also met with Erica Ehm, a pioneering video jockey at the Canadian cable television station MuchMusic. On the afternoon of that day, Celine and her band arrived at the NBC Studios. Celine´s manager Rene Angelil had gotten passes for the Quebec journalists who were going to watch the rehearsal. Usually, when Celine rehearses, she doesn´t sing full out, like most artists. But Rene found out that the TV show researchers, and producers Peter Lassaly and Freddy De Cordova, always watched the rehearsals from the control room, because they wanted to know ahead of time what their guests were really made of. Rene told Celine to give it her best shot. She sang as if all America was listening. No sooner did she finish her song than Debbie Vickers came rushing out of the control room and told Rene that the producers were extremely impressed. They wanted Celine back again, the sooner the better, with Johnny Carson. Rene and Debbie locked themselves in a little office with their date books, looking for a suitable day.

ON TV SHOW
On September 21, 1990 Celine Dion appeared for the very first time during the broadcast of the famous American late-night talk show "The Tonight Show", hosted by Jay Leno and aired on NBC channel in USA. Phil Collins, Audrey Meadows and Jimmy Smits also were invited to this episode. Celine performed "Where does my heart beat now" and she also was interviewed by Leno. Before she even performed her song, producers booked her for a second appearance about a month later. Celine performed her song in front of Jay Leno, Phil Collins and millions of television viewers, the largest audience she´d faced to date. She looked slender in a black dress, looking almost like Piaf (or what the Americans liked to think Piaf looked like), hair curled like on the album cover of "Unison". She did her own hair and makeup, and Suzanne Gingue helped her out, gave her advice. There was no real interview after her song, but Jay Leno and Phil Collins were won over, and they said so, loud and clear, to the viewers. At the end, Jay Leno called her over, held her hand and showed the viewers the "Unison" album cover. That´s when Phil Collins, who was at the top of the charts, came over and gave her a kiss.
