---------------------------------------- OTHER EVENTS ----------------------------------------
ON PHOTO SESSION
In 1999 Celine Dion took part on a very special photo session made by make up artist, Kevin Aucoin for his third book titled "Face Forward". "Face Forward" is an ingenious showcase of the transformative, creative possibilities of makeup, with portraits of everyone from Julia Roberts to Sharon Stone, Martha Stewart to his mother, Thelma. His crafted visages range from minimal-application makeovers of friends to elaborate re-creations of such Hollywood icons as Audrey Hepburn (Calista Flockhart), James Dean (Gwyneth Paltrow), and Veronica Lake (shockingly, Martha Stewart) and such pop-culture personalities as Cher (socialite Alexandra von Furstenberg) and Siouxsie Sioux (Winona Ryder). Celine was made to look like American-born Greek soprano, Marie Callas. Kevyn Aucoin wrote on the book "Though no stranger to the same poverty that surrounded Callas´s childhood, singing sensation Celine Dion had the good fortune to grow up with the love and support of a mother who believed in who she really was. And though Callas and Dion both fell in love with men much older than themselves, Celine enjoys one of the most loving relationships I have ever seen, while Callas died alone of a broken heart. And though these women have two of the most powerful and distinctive voices in all of musical history, Callas´s legacy is - amidst the triumphs - shadowed with pain, while Dion is recording for herself a much brighter lifetime filled with joy and contentment". The makeup process to transform Celine into Callas is also described on the book. First, skin is prepped using a light moisturizer. Then, spot concealer and a matte foundation is used all over the face and blended outward. Then, a continuous line of black liquid eyeliner is draw along the top and bottom lashes, joined at the outer corner, thickened, and extended outward and upward. Eyebrows are dramatically groomed and defined to emphasize the arch with a sharpened basic brown eyebrow pencil and black liquid eyeliner. Black mascara is swept onto curled lashes. Finally, using a light flesh lip pencil, the mouth was drawn in, exaggerating the shape by overdrawing, then filled in. On top, a blood red liquid lip color was smeared on, blotted, and reapplied.
