CONCERT IN LAS VEGAS
On May 7, 2006 Celine Dion performed at the Colosseum of the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, USA with the highly successful show "A New Day...". On this day, Celine and the cast of the show celebrated their 500th show with a special benefit performance, hosted by Las Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman. With few changes on the show (specially on the costumes), compared with the shows on 2005, Celine performed "A new day has come", "It´s all comming back to me now", "To love you more", "Because you loved me", "The power of love", "All the way" (with footage from Frank Sinatra on the big screen behind Celine), "I wish", "I drove all night", "Love can move mountains" and many others. After the songs, Celine and her husband Rene Angelil, introduced a cheque for over one million dollars to be divided among 10 Las Vegas area charities. They also held a draw for three grand prizes. On this day, Celine celebrated the 500th but actually it was the 502nd show.
FÊTE DE LA MUSIQUE FESTIVAL
On June 21, 2006 Celine Dion took part at the French Special music festival named "Fête De La Musique", wich was hosted by Anthony Kavanagh from the Arche de la Defense in Paris, France and it was broadcasted live on France 2 channel in France. Celine´s appearance, was via satellite from the Colosseum of the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, USA, where she was performing with the highly successful show "A New Day...". She sang "Pour que tu m´aimes encore". Celine chatted live via satellite from her dressing room in the Caesars Palace with the host before introducing the pre-recorded video from the perfomance.
CONCERT IN LAS VEAGAS
On July 7, 2006 Celine Dion performed at the Colosseum of the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, USA with the the highly successful show "A New Day...". On this day, Celine invited the Japanese musician (who specialises as a violinist) Taro Hakase, to make special guest appearance at the show, to commemorate Taro´s 10 year anniversary as a solo artist. Right before the song "To love you more", Celine did her usual speech about being there in Vegas for four years. Then, she announced that she had a special guest and talked about his career. The one and only, Taro Hakase. He performed with Celine, playing the violin. Celine gave to Taro the rose at the end of the concert. Taro was on stage with Celine, and she pretended to walk towards the crowd, but then turned around and handed it to him. Footage from this show were broadcasted later on Japanese TV as part of the TV special about Taro´s 10 year anniversary as a solo artist.
CELINE POUR LES ENFANTS CONCERT
On July 14, 2006 Celine Dion performed at the special benefit concert entitled "Celine Pour Les Enfants", wich took place at Le Mirage Golf Club in Montreal, Canada. Celine performed in front of 6,000 people, mainly of the medium of the businesses of Quebec, Canada. This event included a day of golf. In the morning, 200 players took part in a tournament which continued with a cocktail. In the evening, a new show of Celine, accompanied by her musicians and the special participation of Garou and Marc Dupré. Celine sang only French songs but she ended with "My heart will go on". She performed for a little more than an hour. She sang two songs with Marc Dupré. She didn´t play golf and she wasn´t at the dinner. Celine just did her concert and then she left. She was wearing tight white pants and looked absolutely gorgeous. There was an auction for a trip to Las Vegas to play golf with René and some other proefssional golfman and then to see Celine´s show "A New Day..." at the Colosseum of the Caesars Palace and backstage passes, and a man paid around $185,000 for it. The money was distributed between the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Celine Dion Foundation, all dedicated to sick children. The entire event was organized by Celine and her husband Rene Angelil.
JERRY LEWIS TELETHON
On September 3, 2006 Celine Dion performed at the 41st Annual "Jerry Lewis Telethon" for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, wich took place at the South Coast Hotel in Las Vegas, USA. Thanks to an all-star talent list headed by Celine and a quarter of a million dedicated volunteers across the country, the Muscular Dystrophy Association´s "Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon" set a record in contributions and pledges. As MDA´s 41st Telethon ended the tote board showed an all-time high of $61,013,855 for the voluntary health organization´s programs of research and services to benefit people with neuromuscular diseases. Celine performed a revisited version of the classic "Summertime" getting two standing ovations. At the end, she chats 3 minutes with Jerry Lewis. "I´m deeply gratified by the generosity of the American public", MDA National Chairman Jerry Lewis said. "They never fail to come through for 'my kids´ who have muscular dystrophy and other conditions that waste muscles and too often shorten lives". The 211/2-hour live Telethon was broadcast in the U.S.A. and in Canada on the 190 stations in MDA´s "Love Network".
