THE ALBUM
"One Heart" is an album by Celine Dion, released on March 24, 2003. It´s her 10th English album and 29th in total.
...> About The Album
The release of this album marked the beginning of "A New Day...", Celine´s five year concert arrangement at the Colosseum of the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, USA. "I drove all night" was chosen as the leadoff single. The original cover version of this song was recorded by Cyndi Lauper in 1989. A version by Roy Orbison, of whom the song was originally aimed, was aired in 1992. Celine´s recording became a hit, reaching number 1 in Canada, Belgium and Sweden. Although "Have you ever been in love" was already featured on Celine´s previous album "A New Day Has Come", it was released as the second single from "One Heart" in the United States and third in selected countries. The title track promoted the album as the second single outside the United States. There were also two radio releases at the end of 2003: "Stand by your side" (United States) and "Faith" (Canada). A song called "Reveal" was written by Cathy Dennis who also wrote "Toxic" for Britney Spears and "Can´t get you out of my head" for Kylie Minogue among others. "Sorry for love" [ 2003 version ] was actually an original version of the song. The dance version was released a year earlier on "A New Day Has Come". Already available on the "A New Day Has Come" 2002 special limited edition, "Coulda woulda shoulda" was included also here. The last track on the album, called "Je t´aime encore" was recorded also in French and included on Celine´s next album "1 Fille & 4 Types". In the United States, "I drove all night", "Have you ever been in love", "One heart", and "Love is all we need" were used, from 2003 to 2004, in an advertising campaign for DaimlerChrysler, and the CD´s inlay cover had the Chrysler logo and slogan. Thanks to "One Heart", Celine won an American Music Award for Favorite Artist in the Adult Contemporary category, in November 2003. In June 2004, a bonus DVD called "One Year... One Heart" was included on some editions of "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas", containing the recording of "I drove all night" and "Have you ever been in love", and the making of "One heart" music video among other features.

The album was recorded between 2002 and 2003. Part of the recording sessions took place at the Sony Music Studios in New York, USA. Footage from the recording sessions of the song "I drove all night" were included on the promotional DVD titled "One Year... One Heart", released in June 2004 on some editions of "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" album.
...> Album Photo Sessions
In late 2002 Celine Dion made a special photo session for the DaimlerChrysler campaign. Mostly in black and white, Celine posed with diferen Chrysler cars, new and old ones. Some of those photos were used on the "One Heart" album´s booklet. Anyway, the album cover photo (and another one inside the booklet) with Celine posing on a sofa, wasn´t taken from that photo session for Chrysler. It came from the recording sessions of the album. The photos for the Chrysler campaign were taken by photographer Peter Arnell, who also was the director of the music video for "I drove all night". The stylist was Zebla Maaza, the hair was made by Alex Price and make-up was made by Mally Roncall.
...> Title And Cover
The title of the album, "One Heart", is because of it´s song of the same name, released as one of the promotional singles. About the cover, a first version leaked to the internet. It features a rare photo of Celine´s face and the traditional "Celine" logo on it. Later, in February 2003 the famous online store, Amazon published another version of the cover, similar as the current one, except the text format and fonts.
...> Chart Success
The IFPI revealed that "One Heart" was the 10th best selling album around the world in 2003. It has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. The album has sold 431,657 copies in the United States during the first week, opening at number 2. To date, "One Heart" shipped 2 millions copies in the U.S. and was certified 2x platinum by the RIAA. In Canada, "One Heart" shot to the top of the Canadian albums chart, selling 97,000 copies in its first week, making it the biggest debut of the year, according to data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. It was certified 3x platinum. After selling over 1 million copies in Europe, "One Heart" was certified platinum by the IFPI. In France, it debuted at number 1 and remained two weeks at the top, and was certified platinum. The album reached also number 1 for two weeks in Belgium Flanders and Denmark, and for one week in Switzerland and Greece. In the United Kingdom it has sold 204,075 copies, and was certified gold. THE SINGLES
...> "I drove all night"
"I drove all night" was recorded by Celine for the album "One Heart" and released as the lead single on March 3, 2003.
The song was featured in promotional ads for the Chrysler "Crossfire" vehicle. The song was commercially successful, reaching number 1 for five weeks in Canada and topping the charts in Belgium Flanders and Sweden. It was Celine´s third airplay-only single that charted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 45 (number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay). The commercial single was released five months later reaching number 26 on the Hot 100 Singles Sales. Because of several club remixes created mainly by Hex Hector, the song peaked at number 2 on the Hot Dance Club Play. "I drove all night" was certified platinum in Belgium (50,000) and gold in Australia (35,000). According to the Nielsen SoundScan, the CD single has sold 55,000 copies in the United States. Celine performed "I drove all night" during "A New Day..." show and included it on the "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" CD in 2004 and "Live In Las Vegas - A New Day..." DVD in 2007. The "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" bonus DVD, called "One Year...One Heart" contained the recording of the song and fragments from making the video. The song became also an opening track for the 2008-09 "Taking Chances Tour", preceded by an introduction video using the remix of "I drove all night" as well. The audio and footage of this performance was included in the "Taking Chances World Tour: The Concert" CD/DVD. In October 2008, "I drove all night" was included on "My Love: Essential Collection" greatest hits.

...> "Have you ever been in love"
"Have you ever been in love" was released on April 14, 2003 as the second (promotional only) single in the United States and Canada from the album "One Heart". On November 3, 2003 it was released as the third, commercial single in selected European countries.
"Have you ever been in love" appeared first on Celine´s 2002 album "A New Day Has Come". Although not changed, it was included on "One Heart" in 2003. "Have you ever been in love" spent fourteen weeks at number 2 on the U.S. Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks, setting a record for most weeks at the second position. Still, it peaked only at number 4 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles, spending twenty four weeks on this chart. The only sales chart where "Have you ever been in love" appeared was the Swedish Singles Chart, where it reached number 57. Celine performed this song (between March and November 2003) five nights a week during her show "A New Day..." at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, USA. In October 2008, "Have you ever been in love" was included on the European version of "My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection" greatest hits. Some years after the album´s release, a sheet of paper with Spanish lyrics for this song leaked into the Internet. Celine´s signature appeared on the sheet as well as phonetical notes under the adapted lyrics. The title came to be "Sabes cómo es el amor?" and next to it appeared the original title in brackets ("Have you ever been in love"), so a Spanish version for this song is rumoured to have been also recorded, though it remains unreleased to this day. The date in the sheet was May/06/03, so it is not certain whether it was recorded for her 2003 "One Heart" album (probably to offer a different version of the song) or for her 2002 "A New Day Has Come" album. However, the English version was the one finally included in the "One Heart" album. "Have you ever been in love" was covered by Aretha Franklin for her live performances. A rare CD-ROM was distributed in some radio stations in Holland. And a rare single´s cover, leaked to the internet. However the project never was marketed.
