THE ALBUM
"A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" is Celine Dion´s first English live album, released on June 14, 2004. It´s her 11th English longplay and 31st in total.

"A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" features thirteen live tracks recorded live at the Colosseum of the Caesars Palace from Celine´s successful Las Vegas show, called "A New Day..." and two previously unreleased studio tracks: "You and I" and "Ain´t gonna look the other way". It was also released with a bonus DVD containing 45-min documentary, called "One Year... One Heart". "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" includes five live songs which weren´t available on Celine´s previous albums: "Fever", "I´ve got the world on a string", "I wish", "If I could" and "What a wonderful world". The studio versions of last two songs were included on her next album "Miracle". "If I could" was originally recorded by Nancy Wilson on her Nancy Now! album in 1988. In 1993 Ray Charles covered it on "My World", as well as Regina Belle on her album "Passion". Barbra Streisand included the song on her "Higher Ground" album in 1997. The French edition of "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" contains "Contre nature" as a bonus track. The originally scheduled "Live In Las Vegas - A New Day..." DVD release date (autumn 2004) was postponed because of changes and improvements made to the show since the initial filming. "A New Day..." was re-shot in high-definition during the January 17-21, 2007 week and released on December 7, 2007. The two disc DVD contains more than 5 hours of never-before seen footage, including the concert and three exclusive documentaries. Live performances of "Nature boy", "At last", "Fever", "Et je t´aime encore" and "What a wonderful world" are available only on "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" CD, as they were removed from the show at the time of filming the DVD.

"A New Day... Live In Las Vegas" has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. It has sold 530,000 copies in the United States and was certified gold by the RIAA. It was also certified gold in Greece, and has sold 59,552 copies in the United Kingdom (as of December 2007). The album reached top 10 in many countries, including number 1 in Greece, number 2 in Canada, number 4 in Belgium Wallonia, number 7 in Belgium Flanders, number 9 in France, and number 10 in the United States.

The album met with positive reviews. Allmusic said that "this live document of the Las Vegas show drives home the point that Celine is one of the most potent entertainers in adult contemporary music". According to them Celine is "equally as comfortable in high-tempo numbers chock-full of her signature vocal acrobatics as she is in quiet, contemplative moments. It's an ideal souvenir for those who have experienced the magic with their own ears and eyes. And while it´s not the most definitive document of Dion´s career, it certainly is a stirring testament to her accomplishments as the standard to whom most vocalists aspire".

THE SINGLES
...> "You and I"
"You and I" is the first and only radio single from "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas". It was released on May 17, 2004.
In October 2004, it was announced that "You and I" would be the theme of Air Canada´s new advertising campaign. At the same time the airline unveiled new in-flight service products and new aircraft livery. Celine also recorded a one-minute-long French version of the song called "Mes ailes à moi". Both versions were used in Air Canada´s commercials. Chuck Taylor of "Billboard" magazine wrote about the song: "The plucky You and I is an ideal vehicle to launch a full-scale seasonal assault on the airwaves, with its love-my-man thematics and kinetic, summer-breeze tempo, akin to her signature That´s the way it is. Celine dispenses a joyful romp from the mic, sounding fresh and fully at ease, and she riffs just enough to stamp the song with a telltale trademark or two". The single was a radio hit, topping the Canadian Adult Contemporary Chart. On June 19, 2007, U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton announced that "You and I" would be her campaign song in her 2008 bid for the Democratic Party nomination for U.S. president. The song was selected as a result of a month-long web campaign to select a theme song. In October 2008, "You and I" was included on the European version of "My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection" greatest hits.

THE MUSIC VIDEOS

The music video was filmed by an award-winning director Andrew MacNaughtan in July 19, 2004 and was shot partly at the Toronto Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada. It premiered two months later. The music video can be found on the "Ultimate Box", which was released in Japan in 2008.
