THE ALBUM
"Miracle" is a concept album credited to Celine Dion and Australian photographer Anne Geddes, released on October 11, 2004. It´s Celine´s 12th English album and 32nd in total. According to "Billboard" magazine, "Miracle" is the 11th Best Selling Kids Album of the 2000s.

"Miracle" is a part of a CD-and-book multimedia collection, with Celine´s music providing the soundtrack to Geddes´ pictorial book celebrating the joy of babies. The songs were produced by David Foster, who hadn't worked with Celine since 1999. Among tracks on the album are remakes of John Lennon´s "Beautiful boy", Louis Armstrong´s "What a wonderful world", Roberta Flack´s "The first time ever I saw your face", Johannes Brahms´ "Brahms´ lullaby", Nancy Wilson´s "If I could", Henri Salvador´s "Le loup, la biche et le chevalier (une chanson douce)" and Carol Welsman´s "Baby close your eyes". All other tracks are original songs such as the title track, which was written in 2001 for "A New Day Has Come" to celebrate the birth of Celine´s son Rene Charles, but the song was never published on that album. Some tracks were previously released on Celine´s albums, including "Brahms´ Lullaby" on "These Are Special Times" and "The first time ever I saw your face" on "All The Way... A Decade Of Song". Live performances of "If I could" and "What a wonderful world" were available on "A New Day... Live In Las Vegas". "A mother´s prayer" is a solo version of "The prayer", a duet with Andrea Bocelli from "These Are Special Times". "Le loup, la biche et le chevalier (une chanson douce)" was performed live by Celine and Henri Salvador in October 2003, during the taping of "1 Fille & 4 Types" TV special. However, this duet version wasn´t included on any album. "Miracle" was released in three different formats: CD; CD/DVD plus 60-page booklet; and 180-page hardcover book plus CD/DVD. "Je lui dirai," available previously on "1 Fille & 4 Types", was included as a bonus track in Francophone countries. "Beautiful boy" was released as the first single in North America and some parts of Europe. It was followed by "In some small way" in the United States and Canada. "Je lui dirai" was released as a single in Francophone countries, while the title track was issued as a single in the United Kingdom and parts of Asia. All these songs were released as radio singles without accompaying music videos.

...> A Miracle In The Making
In March and April 2004, Anne Geddes has now selected all the images and text for the book and also the song selection for the CD has been made with Celine recording final tracks in Las Vegas. The book translations are being completed and once these are finalized, the book will be sent for scanning and pre-production checks. Everyone is very excited with what has been created and there is an air of anticipation preceding the actual printing in early June. The DVD of the making of the book is also nearing completion and this particular product will give a real insight to the behind the scenes aspects of this fantastic, unique project. The DVD will also be a feature inclusion in the book along with Celine´s CD. All those who have seen and heard what has been produced so far are very excited with comments ranging from: "Absolutely stunning and brilliant work!" to "Anne´s photography coupled with Celine´s magical voice is simply overwhelming". Anne is now working on the "Miracle" music video and this is due for recording in late June. In May and July 2004, "Miracle", the book is completed and is now being printed. The orders for the book from the world market are very encouraging, making this the largest initial order for any of our titles. Printing is expected to take two months working seven days a week. The CD of Celine´s songs is finished and the music is superb. Comments from all who have heard the tracks have been fantastic and have brought tears to some due to the quality of Celine´s beautiful voice and the sentiment of the lyrics. The accompanying DVD, of the making of the book, is also completed and gives a real insight into "the behind the scenes" of this magical project. Anne has commenced work on the direction of the music video for "Miracle", the title track, and has spent the last week in Sydney, Australia working with her editing team. This video is expected to be completed by the last week in July. With the initial orders, the book, even before release is earmarked for a best seller status and due to the inclusion of the CD, the music is destined to rate high in the music charts, a normal position for Celine´s music, this all before a page is seen or a song heard. In July and August 2004, the initial order of "Miracle" books is on the way, packed into a large number of containers sailing to various destinations around the world to be ready for distribution for the October launch. Celine´s CDs are about to be packaged and sent as well for the same date. Planning is on track for the promotions surrounding the launch. In September 2004, only one month to go until the worldwide release of "Miracle". It´s all getting very exciting. To celebrate the release, Anne has personally signed 100 copies of a very special "Signed Launch Edition" of "Miracle" which is available to pre-order as well as the "Miracle" book and a 2004 "Miracle Calendar and Datebook Set". Both books contain the making-of-the book DVD and Celine´s new "Miracle" 2004 CD. The books, CDs and DVDs have arrived at their destinations all over the world and are now waiting to be delivered to the shops, unpacked and displayed ready for sale on October 12, 2004. There´s still a lot of work being done behind the scenes such as promotional material, printing brochures and the creation of a "Miracle" website.
...> Recording Sessions
From the fourth week of March 2004, Celine Dion was in the recording studio to work on the "Miracle" project. The recording sessions took place at the Digital Insights Recording Studios in Las Vegas, where Celine was performing her show "A New Day...". In March and April 2004, Anne Geddes selected the songs for the CD has been made with Celine recording final tracks in the studio in Las Vegas, USA. Footage from the recording sessions were included on the "Miracle: A Celebration Of New Life" book and on the limited edition bonus DVD as "The Making of Miracle".

From November 2003 to January 2004, Anne Geddes was very busy to complete the photography of all the flower elements for "Miracle" and to finalize the book design. It was a busy time for Anne during the first two weeks of February 2004. Beautiful babies and Celine were the focal point of a very successful photo shoot in Las Vegas, USA. In March and April 2004, Anne Geddes selected all the images and text for the book. Some photos were included on the album booklet. Some others can be found on the book "Miracle: A Celebration Of New Life". Footage from the photo session was included as "The Making of Miracle" on the limited edition bonus DVD of the album. The music video of "Je lui dirai" features footage from the photo session.

"Miracle" debuted inside top 10 in many countries, reaching number 1 in Canada and Belgium Wallonia, number 4 in the United States, France and the Netherlands, number 5 in the United Kingdom, number 6 in Switzerland and number 9 in Greece. Miracle set a record in the United States, spending 18 consecutive weeks at the top position on the Billboard Top Kid Audio chart. The album sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide in just three months after its release. It was certified platinum in the United States and gold in the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Belgium.

"Miracle" met with positive reviews. Allmusic said that "it´s the quietest record Dion has recorded in a while, an unabashed adult contemporary album that keeps its gentle mood from start to finish, as if it were a prolonged lullaby. Dion tempers her vocal histrionics considerably - she still soars to the high notes, but there are no pyrotechnics, no showboating here - which serves this collection of standards and new songs quite well".

"Beautiful boy" was released on October 11, 2004, in North America and parts of Europe as the first promotional single for the album "Miracle".
The song reached number two on the Quebec Airplay Chart. "Beautiful boy" was also popular on adult contemporary charts, peaking at number 18 in the U.S. and number 32 in Canada. It also reached number 30 on the Hungarian Airplay Chart. Celine performed this song on a few U.S. TV shows, including the "Live Wth Regis And Kelly". There was no music video made for the song.

"Miracle" is the second promotional single from "Miracle". It was released on October 11, 2004 in the United Kingdom and Asia.
"Miracle" was written by Linda Thompson and Steve Dorff in 2001 for Celine´s album "A New Day Has Come" to celebrate the birth of her son Rene Charles, but the song was never published on that CD. Finally, in 2004 it was recorded and produced by David Foster, with whom Celine hasn´t been working since 1999. Celine performed this song in few USA TV shows, including the "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", although it wasn´t released as a single there. The UK promo CD features the same cover as the "Miracle" album. And a rare CD cover with a baby and also Celine and Anne Geddes, was shown as the single from Japan.

"Je lui dirai" (meaning "I will tell him") is the third promotional single from the album "Miracle". It was released on October 11, 2004 in France and Belgium.
"Je lui dirai" was written by Jean-Jacques Goldman and produced by Erick Benzi. The song was originally featured on the 2003 album "1 Fille & 4 Types". On October 1, 2003 Celine taped the "1 Fille & 4 Types" TV special at the Colosseum of the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, USA where she performed this song among others. "Je lui dirai" peaked at number 22 on the Belgian Wallonia Airplay Chart.

"In some small way" is the fourth and last promotional single from the album "Miracle". It was released on March 7, 2005 in the United States and Canada.
"In some small way" was written by Richard Page, who also wrote "Sleep tight" on the same album. Celine performed "In some small way" during her "A New Day..." show at the Colosseum of the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, USA between December 2004 and January 2005. She sang it as a duet with her backup singer Barnev Valsaint. She also performed it on the "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno in December 2004, with Valsaint and the gospel choir. The performance from "A New Day..." was to help raise money for the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake victims. There was no music video made for the song. "In some small way" reached number 9 on the Quebec Airplay Chart. It was also popular on the adult contemporary charts, peaking at number 14 in Canada and number 28 in the U.S.
