THE ALBUM
"On Ne Change Pas" (meaning "We don´t change") is a greatest hits album by Celine Dion, which sums up twenty five years of her French career. It´s her first official French language 'best of' album in almost twenty years. "On Ne Change Pas" is Celine´s 22nd French album and 33rd if counting all longplays. It was released on September 30, 2005. On November 23, 2009, Triple "Best Of" was released in France. It contains 3 CDs from the long box version of "On Ne Change Pas" in new digipak. Also on this date, the 2CD version was re-released in a slim metal case.
...> About The Album
The album features French number 1 singles, such as "Pour que tu m´aimes encore", "Je sais pas" or "Sous le vent" and many other hits. It contains also rare songs like "Ma nouvelle-France" (from the 2004 movie "Nouvelle-France"), "Plus haut que moi" in duet with Mario Pelchat (French adaptation of Jennifer Rush´s song "Higher Ground") and many early recordings (beginning with Celine´s first single "Ce n´était qu´un rêve" from 1981). "On Ne Change Pas" includes three new songs: "Je ne vous oublie pas", "Tous les secrets" (theme from the movie "Astérix Et Les Vikings") and "I Believe in you", a duet with Il Divo. Material on this album is mostly written by Eddy Marnay, Luc Plamondon, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Erick Benzi, and Jacques Veneruso. Many versions of "On Ne Change Pas" were released worldwide, some of them with a bonus DVD featuring almost 30 minutes of exclusive images and the music video for "Je ne vous oublie pas". The basic 2CD version (with or without the DVD) was released in September/October 2005 (with two different tracklists: one for North America and the other for Europe and Asia). The long box containing 3CD and 1DVD was released at the end of November 2005. And finally 1CD version was issued in March/April 2006. However, the album wasn´t released in Australia and New Zealand. It became available there later on iTunes. Celine visited France in October 2005, after three years of absence, to promote her compilation and appeared in various TV shows. She has recorded also an English version of "Tous les secrets", called "Let your heart decide" which was featured as the single´s B-side. An accompanying "On Ne Change Pas" DVD was also released on November 21, 2005, including all French music videos and a bonus material. Celine was nominated for the Female Artist of the Year and Song of the Year - "Je ne vous oublie pas" at the 2006 Félix Awards.

...> Critical Reception
The album met with positive reviews. Allmusic said that this is "a companion piece to 1999´s All The Way… A Decade Of Song, containing dance-pop-friendly numbers and passionate, melodramatic ballads. For those who don´t speak French, getting past the roadblock of not being able to understand the subject material will lead to a greater, more holistic appreciation of the depth and prolific output of Dion´s career in such a short span".

THE SINGLES
...> "Je ne vous oublie pas"
"Je ne vous oublie pas" (in English "I won´t forget you") is the lead single from "On Ne Change Pas". It was released as a music download in Canada on September 27, 2005 and in France on October 3, 2005. The CD single was released in France, Belgium and Switzerland on October 10, 2005.
The lyrics by Jacques Veneruso, who worked with Celine on her previous French album "1 Fille & 4 Types", say that the song is a dedication to all Celine´s fans, a declaration of love. Veneruso wrote and produced also four tracks for Celine´s next French album "D´elles". Celine visited France in October 2005 to promote her new album and performed "Je ne vous oublie pas" in various TV shows. The single reached there number 2 and was certified silver (165,000 copies sold). It was also successful in other countries, reaching number 3 in Quebec, number 4 in Belgium Wallonia and number 21 in Switzerland. "Je ne vous oublie pas" was nominated for a 2006 Félix Award in Best Song of the Year category. The version of "Je ne vous oublie pas" performed by Celine and Les 500 Choristes was released in November 2006, on their album "500 Choristes Avec... Vol.2". It was later included on Celine´s 2007 single "Et s´il n´en restait qu´une (je serais celle-là)".

...> "Tous les secrets"
"Tous les secrets" (meaning "All the secrets") is the second single from "On Ne Change Pas" and also a theme song from the animated movie "Astérix Et Les Vikings". The music download was released in Canada on the same day as the album (October 4, 2005), but the CD single was released on March 13, 2006 in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Greece. In Poland, "Tous les secrets" was released on September 1, 2005 as the first and only radio single from "On Ne Change Pas".
The track was written and produced by Kristian Lundin, who already worked with Celine on hits like "That´s the way it is" and "I´m alive", and by Jacques Veneruso who wrote "Sous le vent", "Tout l´or des hommes" and "Je ne vous oublie pas" among others. The CD single included also an English-language version of "Tous les secrets", called "Let your Heart decide". Both versions could be found later on the "Astérix Et Les Vikings" movie soundtrack, released on April 3, 2006. Celine promoted this song by performing it in a French TV show, called "Hit Machine". "Tous les secrets" peaked at number 7 in Quebec, number 10 in Greece, number 20 in France and number 33 in Belgium Wallonia.

...> "I believe in you" [ ft. Il Divo ]
1. "Tous les secrets"
2. "Let your heart decide"
"I believe in you (Je crois en toi)" is a duet between Celine and Il Divo, released as the third and last single from Celine´s "On Ne Change Pas" album, and first and only from Il Divo´s "Ancora". At first, on January 23, 2006 "I believe in you" was released as a radio single in the United States. The commercial single was issued May 1, 2006 in France and Switzerland. It was also released as a radio single in Canada, in May 2006.
Luc Plamondon, with whom Celine worked in 1991 on her "Dion Chante Plamondon" album, wrote French lyrics for the song. There was no music video made for the song. Celine and Il Divo promoted "I believe in you" in various French television shows, performing it in late 2005. The single peaked at number 30 in France and number 35 in Switzerland. In the U.S., it reached number 31 on the U.S. Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks. Surprisingly, nearly 3 years after its release the song peaked at number 8 on the Portuguese Singles Chart according to "Billboard" magazine. "I believe in you" was featured on the official 2006 FIFA World Cup album, called "Voices From The FIFA World Cup", which was released on May 20, 2006. There are two released versions of the song, the version released on Celine´s "On Ne Change Pas" album, and the other on Il Divo´s album. The difference is that "Someday I´ll find you" is sung by a different member of Il Divo on each album. On Celine´s album, the line is sung by Swiss tenor Urs Buhler, and on Il Divo´s album it is sung by Spanish baritone Carlos Marín. This is due to them swapping lines, where the other line swapped is part of the harmony in Celine´s verse (the second verse). A third version performed entirely in English (Celine´s verse included) was also recorded, but never released. Il Divo performed this version in their concerts with tenor David Miller singing Celine´s parts. Il Divo are not the first opera singers who have performed and recorded with Celine. She had previously collaborated with Luciano Pavarotti on "I hate you then I love you" and Andrea Bocelli on "The prayer". The latter has been also performed by Celine and Josh Groban.
