A NEW DAY HAS COME CBS SPECIAL
On March 3, 2002 Celine Dion performed at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, USA. This was the taping of a TV special for the American television, to help promote Celine´s new album, "A New Day Has Come". Before the concert, Celine posed for a photo session. The photos were used to promote the TV special aired later on April 7, 2002 on CBS channel in USA, under the title "Celine Dion: A New Day Has Come - CBS Special". This was Celine´s first appearance on a public concert since her career break in 2000. A two-year break always was the plan for the Quebec native. Celine says the TV special, taped at Hollywood´s new Kodak Theatre, is meant to show people that "I haven´t changed so much. I´ve grown up some and have a child now, and we went through some difficult times, but I´m the same person. This will be the first time I´ll be performing a bunch of songs from the new album (for an audience). I know the music industry can change a lot, but I´m not ready to make a big jump into a rap album". After a "Ladies and Gentleman, please welcome back to Celine Dion", Celine appeared on stage to perform her new single "A new day has come". Then, Celine thanked the audience at the Kodak Theatre and she also revealed how nervous she was. And then, she performed "I´m alive". Celine also performed a movie medley with the songs "Because you loved me", "Beauty and the beast" in duet with Bryan McNight and "My heart will go on". After a costume change, Celine appeared on stage and she performed "Have you ever been in love". After another costume change, Celine presented the American R&B girl group Destiny´s Child, and she invited them to sing together the Samantha Sang´s song, "Emotions". They also sang together Celine´s song, "When the wrong one loves you right". Accompanied by violinist Roddy Chong, Celine performed "At last", a gospel-tinged number first recorded by Glenn Miller in 1941, and recorded by Celine for the album "A New Day Has Come". Celine ended the concert with a touching performance of "Nature boy", while footage from her manager and husband Rene Angelil and their son Rene-Charles, was shown on the big screen. During the concert, Celine also performed the songs: "Aun existe amor" (Spanish version of "L´amour existe encore") and "Goodbye´s (the saddest word)" (both from the album "A New Day Has Come"). Although, these two performances weren´t broadcasted during the TV special. After the taping of the show, Celine signed autographs for her fans.
