...> About The Album
Celine worked with people who helped her on previous albums "Unison" and "Celine Dion": David Foster, Walter Afanasieff or Diane Warren to name a few. This album represents the international success of Celine. With "The Colour Of My Love" achieved worldwide fame. Non-U.S. version of the album included additional song "Just walk away" (issued as a promotional single in Spain). "The Colour Of My Love" was re-released in Japan on October 23, 1995 with a bonus track "To love you more", which became a number one hit in that country. "The Colour Of My Love" was noteworthy in that, in the dedication section, it was the first public acknowledgment that Celine had fallen in love with her manager, Rene Angelil. In the dedication, Celine had named Angelil "the colour of [her] love". With "When I fall in love" and "The power of love", Celine got two Grammy Awards nominations for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance respectively. She won many awards during "The Colour Of My Love" era, including: Ivor Novello Award for "Think twice", Japan Gold Disc Award for "To love you more", IRMA Award for "The Colour Of My Love", and World Music Award for World´s Best Selling Canadian Female Recording Artist of the Year. The album was mastered by Vlado Meller at the Sony Music Studios in New York, USA. According to Celine, herself, when she recorded the album, she wanted to give to her fans something that would touch their hearts and souls as the songs did for her (Celine said on the tour programme of "The Colour Of My Love Tour").
...> Album Photo Sessions
More than one photo session were made for this album. The photos from the main sesion for the album, were taken by photographer Phillip Dixon (the album cover is one of them). The stylist was Pauline Leonard, Celine´s hair was made by John Birchall and the make-up was made by Carol Shaw. Some other photos were included on the tour programme of "The Colour Of My Love Tour".
...> Chart Success
In the United States, it has shipped 6 million copies and was certified 6x platinum (4,502,000 copies sold according to Nielsen SoundScan). It was awarded with multi-platinum certifications in many European countries, including the United Kingdom where it has sold 1,816,915 and achieved 5x platinum status (and is eligible for 6x platinum after selling over 1,800,000 copies). Celine garnered tremendous success with "The Colour Of My Love", particularly in the UK, where the album stood for five weeks at the top of the British albums chart, while "Think twice" reigned simultaneously atop the British singles chart. This accomplishment was last achieved by The Beatles. Both album and single spent 7 weeks in total at the top of the UK charts. In Canada, the album has sold 1.4 million copies and it was certified diamond. Also in Japan it has topped the 1 million units sales point and was certified with a million award. The album was also successful in Australia and New Zealand, where it was certified 8x platinum and 6x platinum, respectively. "The Colour Of My Love" became the second best-selling album of 1995 in Australia and spent the longest run at number 1 for that year. The album went to number 1 the following countries: Norway (ten weeks at the top), Australia (eight weeks), UK (seven weeks), Canada (six weeks), Ireland (four weeks), Belgium Flanders (four weeks), and Greece. "The Colour Of My Love" reached also top 10 in many other charts, including number 2 in the Netherlands, New Zealand and Portugal, number 4 in the U.S., Sweden and on the European Top 100 Albums, number 7 in France, Japan, Finland and Spain, and number 9 in Switzerland.
...> Critical Reception
Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic wrote that the album is "successful, thanks to the careful production, professional songwriting (highlighted by When I fall in love, The power of love and Think twice) and Dion´s powerhouse performances".

THE SINGLES
...> "When I fall in love"
"When I fall in love" is a popular song, written by Victor Young (music) and Edward Heyman (lyrics). It was introduced in the film "One Minute To Zero". The song has become a standard, with many artists recording it, though the original hit version was by Doris Day. The version by Celine and Clive Griffin was featured in the romantic comedy "Sleepless In Seattle" and released as a single on June 28, 1993 becoming one of the most acclaimed.
It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1994, and won a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s). The award went to David Foster and Jeremy Lubbock. The song appears on both, the "Sleepless In Seattle" soundtrack (number 1 on the Billboard 200 and 4x platinum RIAA certification for selling over 4 million copies in the U.S.), and later on Celine´s album "The Colour Of My Love", released in November 1993. "When I fall in love" reached top 40 in few countries, including number 22 in New Zealand, number 23 in the United States, and number 37 in the Netherlands. It was popular on the U.S. Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks, peaking at number 6. In 1998, Anne Murray performed "When I fall in love" with Celine live and included it on her DVD called "An Intimate Evening With Anne Murray... Live". Later, this version appeared on Murray´s 2007 album "Anne Murray Duets: Friends & Legends".

...> "Think twice"
"Think twice" is the fourth hit single from "The Colour Of My Love" album. It was released on July 18, 1994 in North America, in October 1994 in the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan, and February 1995 in the rest of the world.
The song is rock-influenced and features a guitar solo, one of only a few of Celine´s songs to do so, performed by Aldo Nova. The song was written by British songwriters Andy Hill, who had achieved success a decade earlier for his work with Bucks Fizz and Peter Sinfield, a former member of rock group King Crimson. It is the song widely credited amongst British fans as cementing Celine, previously most-known in the United Kingdom for her victory in the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, as a major star to British audiences. "Think twice" became a hit in Europe and Australia. Uniquely for Celine´s discography, whilst the song was not a major hit in America, it was a runaway hit in the UK, going on to be on the biggest-selling records of all time. It remains Celine´s second-biggest hit in the UK, eclipsed only by "My heart will go on". The B-sides of this single were taken mainly from "Dion Chante Plamondon" album, which was released at that time worldwide. It was also the first time that Celine´s English single included French songs as B-sides all over the world. Celine performed "Think twice" at the 1995 World Music Awards. The song went to number 1 all over Europe, including: Ireland (9 weeks at the top), United Kingdom (7 weeks), Belgium Flanders (5 weeks), Netherlands (4 weeks), Norway (4 weeks), Sweden (4 weeks) and Denmark (2 weeks). It was also very successful in Australia reaching number 2. "Think twice" has sold 1,235,000 copies in the UK and should be certified 2x platinum (for now it's undercertified and remains platinum only). It was also certified platinum in Australia (70,000) and gold in the Netherlands (50,000). According to Nielsen SoundScan the single has sold 50,000 copies in the U.S. "Think twice" received an Ivor Novello Award for the Song of the Year in 1995. The single boosted up "The Colour Of My Love" album sales, which was released a year earlier and already fell off the charts. Thanks to its success the album went to number 1 in countries like: United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Norway, Belgium and Greece. "Think twice" was included later on the European and Australian editions of "All The Way… A Decade Of Song" greatest hits (1999) and European edition of "My Love: Essential Collection" (2008). It remains a staple of Celine´s live set in countries where the song was a runaway hit. "Think twice" was covered by Alana Dante in 1996, Maribel Gonzalez in 1999 and Liel Kolet in 2005. It was also performed by Kelly Clarkson on American Idol.

So "To love you more" is the eighth single from "The Colour Of My Love" (if counting the rest of the singles from this album). Later, "To love you more" appeared on the Asian edition of "Falling Into You", "Live À Paris" ("To love you more" was one of the radio singles promoting this album in Canada), and the U.S. edition of "Let´s Talk About Love", being released as the third (but promotional only) single from this album. "To love you more" became one of the most performed songs by Celine during her live shows and was performed in the setlist of the "Falling Into You Tour", "Let´s Talk About Love Tour", "A New Day...", and the "Taking Chances Tour". Live versions of this song can be found on many of Celine´s DVDs, including "Live In Las Vegas - A New Day...". The track appeared also on "All The Way… A Decade Of Song" greatest hits in 1999 and "My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection" in 2008. "To love you more" won a Golden Disc Award in Japan for Best Single of the Year. The song was re-released on April 5, 1999 in Japan, this time as a maxi-single with club remixes created by Tony Moran. As the eighth single from "The Colour Of My Love", several versions of the single "To love you more" were released in Japan in 1995. Some were labeled as "To love you more - Celine Dion with special guests Kryzler & Kompany", and includes the Instrumental "Kryzler & Kompany" version of the song. Another promo-only 2-track, features Celine, David Foster and members from Kryzler & Kompany (Japan) on the single´s cover.
