...> About The Album
This album started Celine´s new look, new sound, new team of writers and producers and new record company (first release under CBS Records, a company which was purchased by Sony later that year and christened Sony Music Entertainment in 1991). Most songs were written by Eddy Marnay, with two written by French-Canadian lyricist Luc Plamondon, Celine´s later collaborator. One of album´s producers, Jean-Alain Roussel has worked with many notable artists including Joan Armatrading, Olivia Newton-John, Cat Stevens and Elkie Brooks. Other tracks were produced by Pierre Bazinet and Aldo Nova. The latter worked with Celine on many future French and English songs. "Délivre-moi" is a French cover of Elizabeth Daily´s "Love in the shadows". An English version of "Partout je te vois", called "Have a heart" appeared on Celine´s 1990 album "Unison". After releasing "Incognito", Celine received another four Félix Awards in 1988. She toured Quebec that year with her "Incognito Tournée". The album with different tracklist, came out in France in 1988. It included "Ne partez pas sans moi", which won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 and "Ma chambre". Both tracks appeared as B-sides to the singles released in Canada. "Incognito" was re-released in France in 1992 with the Canadian tracklist. "Jours de fièvre" was released as a single in Denmark in 1988.

Quebec saw six top 10 single releases from that longplay: "On traverse un miroir" (number 2), "Incognito" (number 1), "Lolita (trop jeune pour aimer)" (number 1), "Comme un cœur froid" (number 1), "Délivre-moi" (number 4) and "D´abord, c´est quoi l´amour?" (number 1). In Belgium Wallonia, "Incognito" peaked at number 65 on November 11, 1995, eight years after its initial release.
...> Critical Reception
According to a reviewer from Amazon, the lyrics and music on "Incognito" reflect the change, with Celine spunkily erasing the memory of her last boyfriend (on the song "Incognito"). The music is delightfully 1980´s old school as well, with cheesy synth and drum machine overkill. Sultry sax solos heat things up on "Comme un coeur froid". The unique melodies are high-energy and rock-and-roll influenced, a step up from the string-drenched puppy love ballads of Celine´s earlier years. "Incognito" is the pinnacle of Celine as a young woman, sexy, confident, and flirtatious, without belting out showstopping lovesick ballads. And according to another reviewer from Amazon, "there´s no doubt that this record is one of Celine´s best of all times".
