...> About The Album
"All The Way… A Decade Of Song" is a compilation of Celine´s most successful hits coupled with seven new songs, including the leadoff single "That´s the way it is", written and produced by a team who worked with Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync at that time. Celine performed it live with 'N Sync, during her CBS channel TV special, presented in late November 1999 to mark the release of the album. A rare single of the duet of "That´s the way it is" with 'N Sync was released. The TV special included also guest appearance by Gloria Estefan. Three songs among the big hits are different for each country, that is why there are many editions of the album all around the world. Celine also worked with Robert John "Mutt" Lange, best known for his multi-platinum recordings with Shania Twain. They recorded "If walls could talk", with Twain on background vocals. The song was originally performed by Stevie Vann. Among new songs recorded for this compilation, there are two other covers: Roberta Flack´s "The first time ever I saw your face" and Frank Sinatra´s "All the way" (recorded as a duet with Sinatra´s vocals). The latter was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. "Then you look at me" was written by James Horner and Will Jennings ("My heart will go on") and featured in the 1999 movie "Bicentennial Man", starring Robin Williams. "I want you to need me" became the last Diane Warren song recorded by Celine, at least for the next decade. Two more tracks written by Warren and produced by David Foster were recorded during the "All The Way… A Decade Of Song" sessions, but they never made the album. These songs originally had to be on the album "All The Way… A Decade Of Song" as the first list revealed by Sony Music indicated it. One of them, called "Would I know" leaked into the internet in May 2005 (Charlotte Church recorded her version in 2003), but the second, "Run like a river" still remains unreleased. The last track on the album is an English version of the song "Vivre" from the "Notre Dame De Paris" musical and it´s called "Live (for the one I love)". On January 1, 2000, Celine started her two year break from show business. Later that year she has won a World Music Award for World´s Best-Selling Female Pop Artist and two Japan Gold Disc Awards. In January 2001, she has received an American Music Award for Favorite Artist in Adult Contemporary Category. An accompanying "All The Way… A Decade Of Song & Video" DVD was released in 2001, including videos for seven new songs and eleven older hits. In August 2001, "All The Way… A Decade Of Song" was released on Super Audio CD. In September 2003, it was released as a CD/DVD version, including "All The Way… A Decade Of Song & Video". Finally, in April 2008 the album was released in a slipcase.

...> Album Photo Sessions
In August 1999, Celine Dion posed for the photo session for the album, made by famous photographer Andre Rau. The stylist was Annie Horth, hair was made by Peter Savic and the make-up was made by Thibault Vabre. The photo session took place in South Florida, USA. Some of them were taken at Celine´s ex-house in Jupiter, Florida, USA. Many of those pictures were included on the album booklet. (the cover is one of them). Some other pictures appeared on internet in 2000. Footage from the making of the photo session were used as part of a promotional TV commercial of the album "All The Way… A Decade Of Song". One of the pictures (Celine lying beside a swimming pool) was used as the cover of the album "The Collector´s Series, Volume One". In 2000, the French version of "The Collector´s Series, Volume One", called "Tout En Amour", included twelve colour postcards with previously unreleased photos of Celine from this photo session. Some other photos from this session were included as part of the photo gallery in the limited edition DVD of "A New Day Has Come" in 2002.

THE SINGLES
...> "That´s the way it is"
"That´s the way it is" is a lead single from the greatest hits album "All The Way… A Decade Of Song", released on November 1, 1999.
Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
"That´s the way it is" was written and produced by Swedish producers Andreas Carlsson, Max Martin and Kristian Lundin, who have written a string of hit songs for artists such as 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. Celine sang it live with 'N Sync, during her CBS TV special in 1999. She also performed "That´s the way it is" at the 1999 Billboard Music Awards and at the end of the "Let´s Talk About Love Tour". The song became a hit, going to number 1 on the adult contemporary charts in the United States and Canada, and reaching top 10 all over the world. It was Celine´s first airplay-only single that charted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 6 (number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay). The commercial single was released nine months later as a double A-side with "I want you to need me", reaching number 62 on the Hot 100 Singles Sales. "That´s the way it is" was very successful, being certified platinum in Sweden (20,000), gold in Australia (35,000), Belgium (25,000), Germany (250,000) and silver in France (160,000). According to Billboard, "That´s the way it is" received the "BDS Certified Spin Award - 500,000 Spins" in August 2006. Since the song was released in November 1999, it has cycled 500,000 times on almost 1400 radio stations across Canada and the U.S. The song was included later on "The Collector´s Series, Volume One" compilation (2000) and "My Love: Essential Collection" greatest hits (2008). Several club remixes were created by the Metro. Some pressings of the single included the song "I met an angel (On Christmas day)", a non-album track. A rare promotional single of "That´s the way it is" by Celine Dion and the American pop boy band ´N Sync, was released in 1999 in USA. Celine performed live "That´s the way it is" live with the ´N Sync, during the CBS TV Special of "All The Way... A Decade Of Song", aired in 1999.

...> "If walls could talk"
"If walls could talk" is a song by Celine, which was intended as the final single from her greatest hits album "All The Way… A Decade Of Song".
Photobucket
The song was first recorded by Stevie Vann on her self titled album "Stevie Vann" in 1995. "If walls could talk" was written and produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange, best known for his multplatinum recordings with Shania Twain, who sang backing vocals on this track, and programmed by Richard Meyer aka Swayd. First, in January 2000 there were rumors that "If walls could talk" will be Celine´s next single in the United Kingdom. But two months later, Sony Music UK released "The first time ever I saw your face" instead. In April 2000, the cover of the single and the tracklist became available. "If walls could talk" was supposed to be released on May 5, 2000 in Mexico, but it was cancelled. They preferred to release "I want you to need me". Again, in October, Sony decided to release the single in Europe, Australia, Japan and Central America in December 2000. But the release was cancelled for the third time. With this the promotion of "All The Way… A Decade Of Song" has ended.

...> "Then you look at me"
"Then you look at me" is a theme song from the movie "Bicentennial Man". It was supposed to be released as the second single from "All The Way… A Decade Of Song", on December 11, 1999.
Photobucket
"Then you look at me" was written by James Horner and Will Jennings, who wrote for Celine her 1997 smash hit "My heart will go on". Unfortunately the "Bicentennial Man" movie, released on December 13, 1999 and starring Robin Williams, became a flop and the single was cancelled. The second reason was the fact that "That´s the way it is" became a hit and was still strong on the singles charts around the world. However, "Then you look at me" was included as a B-side to the "Live (for the one I love)", "The first time ever I saw your face" and "I want you to need me" singles. The movie soundtrack also included the track but in slightly modified version, produced by James Horner and Simon Franglen. The version from Celine´s album was produced by David Foster, Horner and Franglen and differs in arrangements and in Celine´s interpretation. Although some rare CD singles could be found. A rare single´s cover leaked to the internet. However the project was never marketed.
