LEGION OF HONOUR
On May 22, 2008 Celine Dion received the Légion D´honneur, a medal created by Napoleon in 1802 to honour France´s civilian and military heroes, from the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris, France. Sarkozy, presented Celine at 6:00 p.m. with the Légion D´honneur, in a formal ceremony held at the Élysée Palace, the official residence of the President of the French Republic. Celine, visibly very moved, was wearing a black lace dress topped by a curved jacket in black satin. She was accompanied by her husband Rene Angelil, her son Rene Charles and her mother Thérèse (in a long green robe). Celine also was accompanied by her thirteen brothers and sisters, some of them also accompanied by their own family. Paying tribute to the international star, currently on tour in France, president Sarkozy wished to "thank" Celine "for spreading the French language beyond their borders. "We must understand that if we are so committed" to the French language, "we are not opposed to English", said Sarkozy, for whom the world is more pleasant with several languages "because diversity is a treasure". Celine was originally granted the medal in 2005 but was unable to appear because of her commitment to perform in Las Vegas, USA.

On May 22, 2008 Celine Dion and her husband, Rene Angelil inaugurated their respective statues at the Le Musée Grévin in Paris, France. Celine´s husband, Rene has been included among the many famous wax statues at the Le Musée Grévin. The Rene wax statue was created by Claus Velte, the same artist that sculpted Celine´s wax statue in 2005. The statue looks very similar to Rene. By the dynamic modeling technology the wax statue has a look of naturalness. Rene´s statue is placed beside Celine´s one. In honour of the occasion, Celine´s wax statue has been dressed in a new outfit pulled from the "A New Day..." costume collection and she has got new hair done. The unveiling of the statues was preceded by a video of Celine and Rene. After the unveiling, Celine and Rene spoke few words. They also took time to take some photographs with their statues. Celine´s son, Rene Charles also was there.
