On February 10, 2008 Celine Dion arrived to Johannesburg´s Lanseria Airport in South Africa to start with the "Taking Chances Tour". She was accompanied by her husband and manager, Rene Angelil and her family. There, Celine was interviewed.

PRESS CONFRENCE
On February 12, 2008 Celine Dion gave a press conference at the Montecasino in Johannesburg, South Africa to talk and to official launch the "Taking Chances Tour". Celine in South Africa fulfilled a promise becauses during the conference she said "but two years ago Mr. Mandela called to invite us and we were committed to be in Las Vegas for five years. Rene Angelil and I promised each other and Mr. Mandela that we would start the next tour in South Africa". Celine was welcomed to the conference by the Soweto Gospel Choir, two times winners of the Grammy award. Celine said "Eish ...", and then smiled and expressed her admiration for choir´s performance. "I am my music and I just want to share that with South Africa. I have been listening to some South African artists such as Sibongile Khumalo and I love her sound", Celine said. "Maybe in future I will have collaborations with a South African artist". Celine received many recognitions for her albums sales in South Africa. She the biggest selling female artist in that country.

On February 14, 2008 Celine Dion met with Nelson Mandela, President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999 and the first South African president to be elected in a fully representative democratic election. The meeting took place in Johannesburg, South Africa. Celine was accompanied by her husband, Rene Angelil and their son, Rene Charles. Celine´s mother, Thérèse, and Rene´s son, Patrick Angelil also were there. After the meeting, Celine, at the hotel in Johannesburg, was photographed. The editors of the famous Canadian magazine "Hello Canada" also were there to accompany Celine in her honourable meeting with the former president, Mandela. An interview of Celine talking about the meeting was published on that magazine on March 3, 2008.

ON REHEARSALS
On February 14, 2008 Celine Dion was on rehearsals for the first concert of the "Taking Chances Tour" at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa. This was a benefit concert. The Soweto Gospel Choir were there at the rehearsals. They performed that night with Celine the song "Love can move mountains".

On February 15, 2008 Celine Dion, who was accompanied by her husband Rene Angelil, her son Rene Charles, her mother Thérèse and one of her sisters, visited Soweto, a lower middle class populated urban area of the city of Johannesburg in South Africa. Celine visited the African Children Feeding, a school-organization to help poor children in the region. Celine has not only taken time to get a picture of the situation on the ground to provide, but to help the school with financial assistance in the form of a generous donation. The pictures shows Celine serves up a plate of food, she smiles as she poses in traditional Zulu beadwork and heargear and poses with Rene Charles. Celine also talked to children and even she sang for them a capella the song "Because you loved me". The people from Soweto also sang for Celine, "...we love you Celine, in Soweto".

On February 16, 2008 Celine Dion, who was accompanied by her husband and manager, Rene Angelil and their son, Rene Charles visited the Montecasino, a leisure and casino complex in Johannesburg, South Africa, where Celine will perform on February 29, 2008 with the "Taking Chances Tour". Celine and Rene took their son, Rene Charles (7) to see a performance of the musical "The Lion King" at the casino. There, Celine met with the cast of the musical and they were photographed together. Celine also met with many fans and she signed them some autographs.

On February 16, 2008 Celine Dion appeared on the cover of the famous magazine "Telé Loisirs" along with the French singer and the winner of the fourth edition of "Nouvelle Star", Christophe Willem. It was published in France with the title "Leurs confessions exclusives". The photos of Celine with Christophe were taken at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes last January.

On Feruary 21, 2008 Celine Dion arrived to Cape Town, South Africa to continue with the "Taking Chances Tour". At 4:00 p.m. she went to the KFM Radio 94.5´s studios for a press conference. First, Celine gave a press conference where she talked about the tour and then, she was interviewed for the radio station. Celine was accompanied by her husband and manager, Rene Angelil.

In late February 2008 Celine Dion, her husband Rene Angelil and their son, Rene Charles visited the Lion Park, a 2 km² (500 acre) lion wildlife conservation enclosure in Gauteng, province in South Africa. They took time to made some photographs with the lions and their young. They even made a safaris trip through the park. The Lion Park is home to over 80 lions including the rare white lions and many other carnivores.

In February 2008 Celine Dion visited the Prison buildings on Robben Island, an island in Table Bay, 6.9 km west of the coast of Bloubergstrand, Cape Town, South Africa and the place where the former president, Nelson Mandela served many years in prison. Celine was accompanied by her husband, Rene Angelil and their son, Rene Charles. She even got into the cell where Mandela served for years, along with Rene Charles.
