THE ALBUM & VIDEO
Titled "Celine: Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert", is a live album/home video by Celine Dion. It was released between April 29 and May 14, 2010 in two versions: English and French, both in CD/DVD format. English version is called "Celine: Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert", and the French version is called "Céline: Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle".

"Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" CD/DVD set is accompanied by an eight page booklet of never before seen tour photos. Both DVDs (English and French) were recorded over four nights, with two concerts at the TD Garden in Boston, USA on August 12 and 13, 2008 (the English version called "Celine: Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert"), and two concerts at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada on August 31 and September 1, 2008 (the French version called "Céline: Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle". For the songs performed in both English and French concerts, the vocals and footage appear the same on both DVDs (with the exception of "Pour que tu m´aimes encore", "My love", and part of "My heart will go on"), as a mix of the Boston and Montreal performances. However, the two DVDs differ, as they each contain songs that were only included in the English-language or French-language setlists. Filmed by Jean Lamoureux, this DVD chronicles Celine´s 2008-2009 "Taking Chances Tour", the second highest-grossing tour ever for a solo artist. Celine played concerts in 5 continents, 25 countries and 93 cities, selling more than 3 million tickets during her first major tour in 9 years. These concerts come alongside the DVD and Blu-ray release of "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World", which was released on the same date. The home version of "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World" includes an additional hour of footage not seen in the film´s limited theatrical run in February 2010. The song "I´m your angel" was cut from the DVD, although it was performed in Boston, and "The power of love" was cut from the French DVD. The French version of the DVD/CD set, "Céline: Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle", was nominated for Music DVD of the Year in the 2011 Juno Awards. A special limited deluxe edition two-DVD set, featuring both "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World" and "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" and a 52 page booklet and 5 fold-out souvenir postcards was also released between May 14 and May 25, 2010. QVC is offering the movie "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World" with a bonus CD, containing songs which weren´t included on the "Taking Chances World Tour: The Concert" CD: "I´m alive", "Fade away", "Pour que tu m´aimes encore", "We will rock you" and "The show must go on". The digital versions of audio content of "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" and "Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle" were released in Canada and Belgium. The video content was released digitally in the United States and Canada.

English version of the live album/home video is called "Celine: Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" and the French version is called "Céline: Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle" (literally meaning "Taking Chances World Tour - The Show"). And about the cover, before the release of this live album/home video, a first version leaked to the internet. It features a photo of Celine performing during the first part of the concert she gave at the Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland on May 30, 2008 with the "Taking Chances Tour". However, the current cover features a photo of Celine performing during the first leg of the tour, before visit Europe and America. Here is the first cover edition, with Celine performing in Ireland:

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Celine´s three new DVD releases debuted at the top three on the Music Video Chart in Canada. "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World" entered at number-one, selling 69,000 copies. Sales of this DVD achieved the second highest one week total for a music DVD, behind Celine´s 2007 release, "Live In Las Vegas - A New Day....". The concert CD/DVD "Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle" entered the chart at number-two with 31,000 copies sold, followed by the English version, "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" at number-three with 7,700 copies. This is only the second time since 2004 that an artist has held the top three positions on the chart. In the week all the DVDs debuted on the Canadian Music Video Chart, the number-one album on the Albums Chart has sold 7,100 copies. This means that "Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle" would have ranked number-one on the Canadian Albums Chart if it had charted there, and "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" would have been number-two. With 127,000 copies sold in one week, Celine set an all time record for music DVD sales in Canada. After five weeks, "Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle" was still number 1 in Canada, selling 112,829 copies, and all 3 DVDs were in the top 5 of the chart. In May 2010, all three releases were certified by the Canadian Recording Industry Association: "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World" 2x diamond (200,000), ""Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances - Le Spectacle" diamond (100,000), and "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" 4x platinum (40,000). This should make "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World", one of the fastest selling double diamond certification by a Canadian artist. Celine entered the Billboard Top DVD Music Video chart at number-one and number-two with "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" and "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World", respectively. Celine is the first artist other than Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band to manage a double-debut in the chart's two top spots. "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" has sold 26,000 copies in the first week and would have ranked number fourteen on the Billboard 200 if DVDs competed there. "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World" has sold 15,000 copies in its debut week. "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" was certified platinum (100,000 copies) by the RIAA, and "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World" was certified gold (50,000 copies). On the Billboard Year-end Top Music Video chart of 2010, "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" reached numer 10, and "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World" peaked at number 19. In the United States, the videos have sold 76,000 and 50,000 copies respectively. The DVD/CD set debuted inside top 10 of the music DVD charts around the world, including number 1 in Canada, Ireland, Switzerland and the U.S., number 2 in Finland, number 3 in Austria and Germany, number 4 in Australia and Sweden, number 6 in Spain, and number 16 in Japan (number 1 on the International Music DVD Chart). In some countries, due to different chart rules, it entered the albums chart and peaked at number 1 in Greece, number 3 in Belgium Wallonia, number 5 in France, number 11 in the Netherlands and the UK, number 18 in New Zealand, number 24 in Portugal, number 29 in Italy, and number 30 in Belgium Flandres, on the European Top 100 Albums and in Mexico. The album was certified Gold in France.

Critical reception of "Taking Chances World Tour - The Concert" has been generally positive, with the Pink Paper rating the album 4 out 5 stars, stating that, "Taking Chances is Celine at her most dynamic. She effortlessly blends together medleys of material spanning the best part of two decades and even indulges in a few inspired cover versions that you´d never see coming. It´s also easy to hear just how much energy is channelled into each and every song - you certainly won´t find any filler tracks on this album". They also said that Celine "looks great" on the DVD, and ended it with, "the woman´s a star". Paul Cole of the Sunday Mercury rated the DVD positively, as well, exclaiming, "...Celine Dion has got it down to a fine art by now, and this live CD and DVD set is as predictable as it is polished. Big songs, carefully chosen covers, powerful performances, costume changes - you know the picture... Love her or loathe her, it´ll sell loads". The Daily Herald gave a positive reviewing stating "Celine Dion has performed all over the world, and this great concert shows her in the many places that she has appeared. Her vocals are backed by a wonderful orchestra and she uses modern technology to enhance her concerts".
