ON STUDIO
On February 1, 2012 Celine Dion attended to the recording studio in Los Angeles, California, USA. On January 12, 2010, at 21:53 UTC, (4:53 pm local time) Haiti was struck by a magnitude-7.0 earthquake, the country´s most severe earthquake in over 200 years. The epicenter of the quake was just outside the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. It has been estimated that the death toll could reach 200,000. Widespread damage resulted from the quake. The capital city was devastated. Prior to the earthquake, Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie had planned to organize a re-recording of "We are the world" on January 28, 2010 (the 25th anniversary of the original recording of the song). However, due to the devastation caused in Haiti, these plans were postponed. The new version of the song was recorded on February 1, 2010. Over 75 musicians, icluding Celine Dion, were involved in the recording, which was held in the same place as the original. Also similar to the 1985 process, some of the participating musicians were already in Los Angeles, USA to attend an awards ceremony: the 52nd Grammy Awards. The new version features updated lyrics and music, as well as a rap segment pertaining to Haiti. According to Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson´s younger sister Janet took her late brother´s part in the song. The production team for the song include RedOne and musical director Ricky Minor. Haitian-American musician Wyclef Jean also serve as a producer. At the time of the recording, numerous artists commented on the process, the 1985 version of the song and co-writer Michael Jackson. Celine said that the release of the song would not only benefit the Haitian people, but also serve as a remembrance of "the passion [Michael] Jackson had for helping those in need". Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones echoed Celine´s sentiments and further stated that if the singer were alive, he would have wanted to be just as involved as he had been a quarter of a century ago. After the recording sessions, Celine, Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie talked on a little press conference.

IN CHICAGO
On February 3, 2010 and just 48 hours ago, after recording a new version of USA for Africa´s "We are the world" to benefit Haiti, Celine Dion flew from L.A. to Chicago, USA for an intimate, hourlong sit-down with talk show titan Oprah Winfrey for her TV show. And reportedly for the first time, Celine confirmed an exact date for her return to the Colosseum at the Caesars Palace in Las vegas, USA. Husband and manager Rene Angelil had previously told Vegas DeLuxe that they would return home to Las Vegas but would never pin down a specific date. At least 14 members of Celine´s fan club from cities across America were flown to Chicago for the taping and a sneak preview of Celine´s upcoming theatrical documentary "Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World". After the taping, Celine signed few autographs for her fans, who were singing to her the Omaha song (a song Celine sang during the "Taking Chances Tour" in that city).

She also spoke candidly about her attempts to expand her family with manager-husband Rene Angelil. "We tried four times to have a child, we´re still trying" she said, dressed in a form-fitting black leather dress. "We´re on the fifth try and I tell you if five is my lucky number, this fifth try has got to come in", said Celine, leaning in to slap Winfrey´s palm with a high five. She also revealed that she regularly takes her nine-year-old son Rene Charles to school and even volunteers there, determined to be as supportive a mother as possible, despite her celebrity status. "I don´t hang too, too much and I´ll tell you why... I want to be RC´s mom, I don´t want to be RC´s mom who´s Celine Dion that we saw last week on tour", she said. "But at the same time I don´t want to withdraw myself from being my son´s mother. I´m his mother". "When I´m home and I go and get my son, this is the place that I feel most rewarded".
